"Cannot remove folder <folder_name>: The directory is not empty."

Question

When I try to delete the client cache folder from Windows® Explorer, I get the following message: "Cannot remove folder : The directory is not empty."

Cause

The full path of a folder or a file in the client cache folder is longer than 260 characters. Windows Explorer does not support paths longer than 260 characters.

Answer

If you are trying to delete the client cache folder on a DB2® Document Manager client system, then use the Refresh command on the DB2 Document Manager Desktop. This command deletes the client cache folder and also refreshes the Desktop display.

If you are trying to delete the client cache folder on the DB2 Document Manager server, then shorten the name of any folder or file in the client cache folder whose path exceeds 260 characters and then try deleting the client cache folder again.
