APAR status

Error description

  • You received the following message in the console,
@nn DFHCE3532 Your userid or password is invalid.
              Please retype both.
This was caused by several violations due to many IDs revoked.
You have since reinstated the IDs, you have an outstanding reply
for the region, and doesn't seem to like any replies.

    .
    Here is what was happening,
    - A modify console command was issued,
      /f jobname,CESN userid=xxxx,ps=yyyy
    - an invalid password was issued, so an outstanding reply was
     written to the console:
@12 DFHCE3532 Your userid or password is invalid.
         Please retype both.
    - Issued the following reply with the correct password,
      /r 12,userid=xxxx,ps=yyyy
    - it failed and received the following,
     R 87 SUPPRESSED
    - And a new outstanding reply appears in the console:
@13 DFHCE3532 Your userid or password is invalid.
         Please retype both.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Cannot reply to DFHCE3532 WTOR issued *
    * by CESN when signing on at a console. *
    ****************************************************************
CESN is being run from a console. An invalid userid or password
value is supplied. DFHSNP issues message DFHCE3532 as a WTOR
to request a new userid or password value. Its not clear how
to reply to this WTOR with a value that DFHSNP will accept.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHSNP has been changed to issue DFHCE3532 as a WTO instead of a
WTOR. The CESN task terminates and does not wait for a reply.
CESN has to be invoked again with the correct userid and
    password values.

The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Knowledge Center will be
    updated in topic
'Using an MVS system console as a CICS terminal'
    in section
'Securing->Implementing RACF protection in a single CICS region'
    .
    Paragraph
"If any of the data entered on the command is invalid,
or if the password or password phrase is missing or expired,
CICS prompts the user to enter the missing or invalid data by
issuing a system message that requires a response (a WTOR
message). Provide a response using the REPLY command. When CICS
prompts for a password, it uses a security routing code to
ensure that the response is not recorded on the console or in
the system hardcopy log. To terminate the sign-on process, a
REPLY command with a null operand is required. That is, enter:
REPLY nn, with nothing after the comma, where nn is the number
of the message corresponding to the reply. "
    has been replaced with
"If any of the data entered on the command is invalid, or if
the password or password phrase is missing or expired CICS
    terminates the signon attempt"

The the System Action and User Response for message DFHCE3532
    will be updated:
System Action: The system waits for a response except when you
    are using an MVS console.
User Response: Enter a valid userid and password. If you are
using an MVS console, retry the request with valid credentials.
