Error description

  • With a non-recoverable ESDS file accessed with RLS, a Write of
record1 from CICS1 takes place at almost the same time as a
Read Update / Rewrite of Record 1 from CICS2. In that
situation, and when using automatic journalling, it is possible
that the 82 Write Update Record is written to the log ahead
of the 84 Write Add Complete record.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS VSAM RLS journal records can *
    * be written in an incorrect sequence. *
    ****************************************************************
CICS VSAM Auto Journalling can write journal records in an
incorrect sequence. This can mean that a write update auto
journal record can be hardened to the auto journal before the
write add complete auto journal record that is written as part
of the original write to the ESDS.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHFCRS has been changed to retain the VSAM record
lock while the auto journal is being written to for the write
add complete journal record as part of a write command for a
    non-recoverable RLS ESDS file.
