Error description
Customers would like to prevent access to a file until recovery is complete. DFHER5732 message does not mean all recovery work has completed. That message just means that processing those user records, if any, has completed. This apar is to provide a message to customers when the last of the rebuilt UOWs completes, so users may key off this to know when the unshunted and backed-out inflight work has completed. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS does not issue a message when * * recovery work for any reconstructed * * units of work of relevance has * * completed. * **************************************************************** CICS can reconstruct UOWs from previous runs during non- initial restarts. These may be for indoubt, backout-failed, commit-failed or inflight UOWs, and represent additional recovery work still to be performed. CICS can also reconstruct UOWs that are purely there to await receipt of a forget flow due to reconnecting with a remote system (RMC). It would be beneficial for CICS to issue a new recovery manager message when the last of any reconstructed indoubt, backout-failed, commit-failed or inflight UOWs have completed. In addition, such a message should also be issued if no UOWs were reconstructed during the restart processing, as this is logically the same state of affairs as regards CICS recovery. Problem conclusion
CICS recovery manager will issue new message DFHRM0206 when the last reconstructed UOW of interest for recoverable work has been resolved, or if a restart does not have to reconstruct any such UOW. The CICS knowledge center for CICS TS 5.4 and 5.5 will be updated as follows. The CICS Messages manual will have the following new recovery manager message added: DFHRM0206 applid Any recovered units of work are resolved. Explanation: Any units of work requiring resolution that were found on the system log during recovery are resolved. This message might also be issued during system restart when no such units of work are found on the system log during recovery. Be aware that reconstructed units of work that are locally committed or backed out, and awaiting a forget confirmation from a remote system, do not influence when this message is issued. System action: Processing continues. User response: None. Module: DFHRMSL5, DFHRMU1D, DFHRMU1E XMEOUT parameters/Message inserts: 1. applid Destination: Console . The CICS Recovery and Restart Guide will have the following added to the end of the section "Coordinating updates to local resources": "CICS recovery manager will issue new message DFHRM0206 when the last reconstructed UOW of interest for recoverable work has been resolved, or if a restart does not have to reconstruct any such UOW. This means any units of work requiring resolution that were found on the system log during recovery are resolved. This message might also be issued during system restart when no such units of work are found on the system log during recovery. Be aware that reconstructed units of work that are locally committed or backed out, and awaiting a forget confirmation from a remote system, do not influence when this message is issued".
