Error description
A CICS region was suffering a situation where tasks were sticking indefinitely for Resource Typ (PROGRAM) and Resource Name(PROGRAM-A). The dump shows that the task tried to do an EXEC CICS LOAD (PROGRAM-A) that never succeeded. It appears that several concurrent transactions were all contending for PROGRAM-A and that the contention was managed by the PGWE Program Lock. It seems that a flood of Autoinstall activity left a program lock (PGWE) active, and a transaction suspended, waiting for the lock. The investigations showed that, in a very specific set of circumstances, it is possible for the PGWE Program Lock to be left locked.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS Cloud Transactions hang. * **************************************************************** A CICS Cloud program issues PL/I FETCH or COBOL Dynamic CALL which causes a LOAD of a program which resides in a public CICS library. PG domain sets a Program Lock to serialise the AutoInstall of the program. Another CICS Cloud program causes a similar LOAD; this causes the transaction to issue a DSSR SUSPEND on a resource type of "PROGRAM" and a resource name of the loaded program. An error in PG domain serialisation code leaves the Program Lock active for the program, and the transaction remains suspended indefinitely. CEMT shows affected transactions to be suspended. Affected transactions can not be purged. Additional Keywords: PG 0619 Private_program_promoted_to_public_PPT Versioned Version Promoted Retired PGWE
Problem conclusion
DFHPGLD has been changed to unlock the locked program and resume the transaction correctly.
