Error description

  • The Liberty server hangs during startup when the
configuration contains one or more eba applications which
depend on a bundle repository, and the default executor
thread pool has been configured with a maximum threads
    setting as follows: <executor maxThreads="xx"/>
The last line in the server log is typically as follows,
with xxx being replace by a valid application name:
    CWWKZ0018I: Starting application xxx
    KIXREVACC

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A Liberty JVMSERVER hangs whilst being *
    *                      enabled.                                *
    ****************************************************************
A Liberty JVMSERVER is installed into CICS along with a large
number (approximately 200 in the reported case) of EBA
applications. During installation of these applications a
deadlock occurs between threads causing Liberty to hang.
Prior to the hang many "CWWKZ0018I: STARTING APPLICATION"
    messages are written to messages.log.
The JVM stacks for all the T8 threads show they are WAITING.

Problem conclusion

  • The embedded version of Liberty has been upgraded to 19.0.0.3
which includes the fix for Liberty APAR PH07896.
