Error description

  • You are looking at a CICS system dump in IPCS, formatting
the KE or kernel domain. When looking at a stack you notice
incorrect information in the NAME column.
    Here is an example:
     NAME
     DFHKETA
     DFHDSKE
     DFHXMTA
     DFHRMUO
     DFHERMSP
     PROCESS_RMRO_FORMAT
     RMI_END_OF_TRANSACTION
     DFHERM
     .....n.& <-------- garbage
     DFHD2D2
    .
That name should be DFHD2EX1. There is a problem with the
DFHKEDUF formatter using halfword logic, causing it to
not properly format the name in the stack.
    Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVSCB

    ****************************************************************
When formatting the Kernel Domain information in a system dump
through IPCS the NAME column in the stack entry data may show
    invalid data.

The module name is obtained by first calculating the address of
the start of the module. Any LIFO parameter list with a offset
(from the start of the module) larger than x'7FFF' will result
in the module address being calculated incorrectly, this is
because the offset is treated as signed.

Additional Keywords: DFHKEDUF, ERR NAME, KE=1

Problem conclusion

  • The Kernel domain formatter has been changed so that the LIFO
parameter list offset is no longer treated as signed.
