Error description

  • Migrated to the IIDR VSAM product. All file open failures
    we generated were due to the VSAM file changes implemented
    for IIDR/VSAM (LOGREPLICATE & LOGSTREAMID). CICS is
    supposed to ignore LOGREPLICATE for non-RLS files until the
    CICS region is changed via the SIT NONRLSRECOV parm. All
    the CICS regions have the setting of NONRLSRECOV=FILEDEF.
    When that is the setting CICS is supposed to ignore
    LOGREPLICATE. However, it isn't. It seems that CICS is
    somehow discovering the LOGSTREAMID setting, when it
    shouldn't. For non-RLS files it should not honor the
    LOGREPLICATE/LOGSTREAMID parms until the CICS region is set
    to ONRLSRECOV=VSAMCAT.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: File OPEN error with DFHLG0772 MVS *
    * logger IXGCONN CONNECT error and *
    *                      DFHFC0525 Non-RLS OPEN of file failed   *
    * because the replication log stream *
    * could not be opened. *
    ****************************************************************
    NON-RLS files defined with LOGREPLICATE are not handled
    correctly by CICS at file OPEN time when the SIT has
    NONRLSRECOV=FILEDEF. CICS discovers the LOGREPLICATE option and
    attempts to connect to the logstream but will fail to do so.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been changed to ignore LOGREPLICATE when
    NONRLSRECOV=FILDEF.
