Error description
You are running CICS Transaction server, using a recoverable coupling facility data table or CFDT. You receive the following message when the CFDT server was recycled: DFHFC7115 The coupling facility data table server for pool xxxx has failed and restarted. One or more in-flight transactions which had made recoverable updates to coupling facility data tables residing in the pool will be abended. In this case there was a CECI transaction that had deleted a record from this file, and it was not abended. A CEMT INQuiry on the file, showed it was in Close Requested status, which is appropriate, given this CECI task was still active. The problem is, when the CECI task did end, the file still showed as Close Requested status, and never went to CLOSED status. Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVCTC

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: File associated with a CFDT left in * * CLOSE REQUESTED state. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** This problem presented as a CFDT file being left in an unusable state of CLOSE REQUESTED . Task_A did a DELETE of a File_A record ( 000001 ) from a recoverable CFDT, Task_A was left INFLIGHT. In doing this, FC ( File Control ) code set on bit FLAB_DO_NOT_CLOSE for File_A. The CFDT failed and was restarted. Task_A then attempted a READ of the same file, this abended ACFC due to a UOW_NOT_FOUND whilst attempting to perform a RESYNC_CFDT_POOL. Task_A then attempted another READ which received a SYSIDERR. At this point, FC code attempted to CLOSE File_A ( CLOSE REQUESTED ) but even after Task_A completed, File_A remained in a CLOSE REQUESTED state. FC code was unable to properly close File_A because bit flab_do_not_close was still set to ON from the initial DELETE and prevented File_A from closing.
Problem conclusion
DFHFCFR has been modified to correctly process the file CLOSE in the aforementioned scenario.
