Error description

  • When using a Console to run a Dynamic Transaction that routes
    to a Remote Region, the Console TCTTE, which in this case is
    x'F0' bytes long, is treated as a Large TCTTE. As a result the
    x'40' bit is getting turned on at offset x'138' from the
    beginning of the Console TCTTE. This can cause an
    unpredictable error depending on what storage immediately
    follows the Console TCTTE.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Receive DFHMN0002 A severe error (code *
    *                      X'0215') has occurred in DFHMNMN.       *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a dynamically routed transaction is entered from a console
    and it is to be to run remotely, the field TCTETUCT is updated.
    This field is at offset X'138' in VTAM TCTTEs.
    However this offset falls outside the length of short TCTTEs
    like console TCTTEs. So a storage overlay of one byte will
    occur in the storage following the TCTTE which may be another
    TCTTE or some other piece of storage.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been added in DFHAPRT to prevent TCTETUCT being turned
    off for console terminals.
