Error description

  • You start CICS TS 5.1 with a backlevel SVC version of CICS TS
4.2. The CICS region can be started successfully with no
    DFHKE0104 message.
    .
From the CICS Installation Guide, it says :
"CICS contains a test to verify that it is using the correct
level of the CICS DFHCSVC module. If CICS calls an SVC
module using the SVC number specified on the CICSSVC system
initialization parameter and that module is not at the current
    level, CICS issues message DFHKE0104."
    .
In this case, the CICS TS 5.1 does not fail to initialize with
message DFHLE0104, when the down level DFHCSVC for 4.2 is
installed. This is due to SVCHK_CURRENT_SVC_LEVEL has not been
updated for CICS TS 5.1. This field is used to compare the
release level of the SVC against the release of CICS being run
    to allow downward compatibility.
    .

Local fix

  • Use the correct version of DFHCSVC.

A CICS TS 5.1 system is started with a CICS TS 4.2 SVC number
specified in SIT parameter. According to the Installation Guide,
the CICS initialization should fail with DFHKE0104 being issued.
This is not the case and the CICS TS 5.1 system can be
successfully started with the CICS TS 4.2 SVC.
