Error description

  • A ESDS dataset is currently defined with an RBATYPE of EXTENDED
The dataset is then CLOSED in CICS and is deleted and redefined
as NON EXTENDED in IDCAMS. The dataset is then opened under
CICS and the RBATYPE still shows as EXTENDED. The IDCAMS
listcat shows as EATTR as NULL (Non-Extended). This can lead to
an DFHFC6037 message indicating that Program DFHECID has
issued an RBA request against an extended addressing ESDS data
    set.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A VSAM RLS extended addressing ESDS data set is opened in CICS,
against a dynamically allocated data set.
The CICS FILE is correctly recognised as RBATYPE(EXTENDED). The
FILE is then closed, and the data set deleted and re-defined as
not extended addressing. The FILE is re-opened in CICS, but is
    still treated as RBATYPE(EXTENDED).
This is because DFHFCRO reuses the DSNB but fails to
initialise the bit that indicates that the data set is
using extended addressing, leaving it incorrectly set on.
CEMT INQ FILE shows RBATYPE(EXTENDED) and message DFHFC6037 may
    be issued in error.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHFCRO has been updated to initialise the bit that indicates
the RBATYPE status when a file is opened against an RLS ESDS
    data set.
