Error description

  • You start your MASes and find the AUX trace datasets in MAS and
the connected CMASes immediately fill up. Upon formatting them
using the CPSM trace formatter EYU9XZUT, you find the following
two entries repeated over and over for routed transactions:
    .
TASK MTD PREV TRAN OBJ LEVL PT-ID DEBUG UOW CMAS/USR ENVR
12345 WDIN WDTR ABCD WLM EXCP 9 CICSINIT CPSM masname LMAS
12345 WDTR XLOP ABCD WLM EXCP 6 WDININIT CPSM masname LMAS
    .
In the WDIN CICSINIT trace entry, we see a return code traced
    as:
    .
    RETCODE LEN:000004
           0 - 00000004
    .
You also see the WTDA traced as part of the DYRCOMM. That shows
    the actual problem:
    .
    *....MAS001 .........0>eYUWMEYUR*
    *WTDA........0670........ *
    .
Notice the lower case 'e' in the 'eYUWMEYURWTDA' string.

CPSM imbeds the Transaction Data Area (TDA) in the DTR Comm-
area DYRUSER field so that it flows to the target region during
routing. For routing requests initiated by the Request Streams
(RZ) or Scheduler Services (SH) domains, CPSM's Distributed
Routing Program (DSRTPGM) is called for Route Completion in the
Routing Region to allow resources to be cleaned up when CICS has
finished all processing. CPSM marks the Transaction Data Area
by setting the initial "E" of the eyecatcher to lower case to
show that the TDA might no longer be valid. When routing a Web
Services request, a timing error in Request Streams domain might
result in CPSM's DSRTPGM being called for Route Completion
before CICS has sent the transaction to the target region. If
this happens, when CPSM's DSRTPGM is called for Route Initiate
in the target region, module EYU0WDIN detects the invalidated
TDA and returns an exception. This does not prevent the trans-
action from running, but might result in incorrect updating of
transaction load factors by CPSM WLM.

Problem conclusion

  • Module EYU0WDIN was modified to refrain from marking the TDA
invalid if called for Route Completion from the Request Streams
    domain.
