APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using CEDF to step through an application which includes
BMS RECEIVE MAP command can cause a MAPFAIL condition on the
EXEC CICS RECEIVE MAP('MAPABCD') MAPSET('MABCD1') command.
    .
This appears to happen after the expected CEDF message
CONTINUE EDF (YES/NO) fails to be displayed.

Local fix

  • CEDF in dual terminal mode works ok.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A remote transaction defined with dynamic=yes is being de-bugged
with CEDF in single-screen mode. The transaction issues an EXEC
CICS SEND to the terminal followed by EXEC CICS RETURN TRANSID.
The CEDF program termination panel is displayed but when the
user presses ENTER nothing happens, the expected CEDF
transaction termination panel is not displayed. When the user
presses ENTER a second time the transaction named on the EXEC
CICS RETURN TRANSID command is started. The CEDF task
termination panel is still not displayed and the last data sent
to the screen by the user task is not re-instated, leaving the
screen still displaying the CEDF program termination panel.
The new transaction issues EXEC CICS RECEIVE expecting to
receive the user data written out by the previous transaction,
but instead receives the CEDF program termination panel data,
    resulting in the reported MAPFAIL.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS has been changed to invoke CEDF at task termination of a
    remote transaction defined with dynamic=yes.
