    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: JVM server output redirection fails in *
    *                      CICS TS V5.2.                           *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
CICS TS V5.2 provides the option to redirect JVM server standard
output, standard error, and jvm trace files from z/FS files, to
DD cards within the CICS job.
Attempts to use this function fail, due to an error during the
final product build. JVM output is still written to z/FS
    dfhjvmout/dfhjvmerr/dfhjvmtrc files.
The following message is produced in MSGUSR:
DFHSJ0210 time applid An attempt to start a JVM for the
JVMSERVER resource jvmserver has failed. Reason code:
         SETUP_CLASS_NOT_FOUND.
    .
The stderr file on z/FS contains the following error:
    *** ERROR: com.ibm.cics.common.OutputRedirectorUNSATISFIED
          LINK ERROR LOADING - com_ibm_cics_common_OutputRedirector
    .
    Additional Keywords: SJ0210 msgDFHSJ0210 UnsatisfiedLinkError
                         SJ023D

Problem conclusion

  • CICS has been updated so that the OutputRedirector class is
    correctly built and link edited.
    .
    The sample JVM profiles (DFHJVMAX.jvmprofile,
    DFHJVMST.jvmprofile, DFHOSGI.jvmprofile, and DFHWLP.jvmprofile)
are updated with a better example of how to use this function.
Furthermore, the diagnostic information available when CICS is
unable to open the specified output location has been improved.
    .
The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 5 Release 2 Trace
Entries manual (SC34-7295-00) will be updated with a new trace
entry in chapter 18, JVM domain trace points:
    | SJ 024B | DFHSJIN | Exc | Redirect IO failed | No data |
    .
    .
The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 5 Release 2
Messages and Codes Vol 2 manual (GC34-7284-00) is updated with a
new option for the reason code insert of message DFHSJ0210:
    REDIRECT_IO_FAILED
    Explanation -
An attempt to redirect stdout, stderr, or jvmtrace output for
the JVM has failed. Additional diagnostic messages have been
output to the standard error stream either on zFS, in SYSPRINT,
or in the CICS log as a dynamically generated DD name.
    User Response -
Use the exception in the standard error stream to determine the
    cause of the problem.
