PI20675: WM0508 MESSAGE FAILED BECAUSE OF A MISSING INSERT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When you start up your MAS region in optimized mode, and the RS
  server is not available at that time, message EYUWM008 is issued
  to indicate the failure.
  However, the message WM0508 failed to send out because of a mis-
  sing insert.

  *                      -  For the following messages, when     *
  *                         they are issued from the MAS heart-  *
  *                         beat processing, the length of       *
  *                         CICSplex field is 16-bytes long      *
  *                         string with extra blanks. However,   *
  *                         the field should be 8-bytes long.    *
  *                                                              *
  *                         -  EYUWM0503                         *
  *                         -  EYUWM0504                         *
  *                         -  EYUWM0505                         *
  *                         -  EYUWM0506                         *
  *                         -  EYUWM0507                         *
  *                         -  EYUWM0508                         *
  *                                                              *
  *                      -  For message EYUWM0507 and EYUWM0508, *
  *                         you will see the open parenthesis    *
  *                         for the optimization termination     *
  *                         reason field is missing.             *
  *                                                              *
  *                      -  CPSM fails to issue message EYUWM-   *
  *                         0506 during RS failure processing    *
  *                         because of an invalid insert type,   *
  *                         and CICSplex field for message       *
  *                         EYUWM0508, EYUWM0504 and EYUWM0507   *
  *                         is blank.                            *

  * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this    *
  *                 APAR, all CMASes and MASes must be recycled  *
  *                 to pick up the new code.  Note that regions  *
  *                 do not need to be brought down and restarted *
  *                 at the same time.                            *
  ****************************************************************
  -  When an CICS region joins the workload as an AOR, method
     WMAA (EYU0WMAA - WLM AOR Activation) is called for the AOR
     activation. EYUWM0508 is issued for optimization initializa-
     tion failure. However, CPSM fails to issue EYUWM0508 message
     because of a missing insert.
  
  -  Method WNHD (EYU0WNHD - WLM MAS Heartbeat) is called during
     the MAS heartbeat processing. The following message are
     issued indicating different conditions for the MAS region:
  
     - EYUWM0503
     - EYUWM0504
     - EYUWM0505
     - EYUWM0506
     - EYUWM0507
     - EYUWM0508
  
     However, the CICSplex field is passed 16 bytes long variable.
     As a result, the messages in the log have extra blanks.
  
  -  Message definitions for EYUWM0507 and EYUWM0508 do not have
     an open parenthesis for the optimization termination reason
     field.
  
  -  Method WNRS (EYU0WNRS - WLM RS Domain Wrapper) is called for
     RS failure processing. The following messages are issued:
  
     - EYUWM0506
     - EYUWM0508
     - EYUWM0504
     - EYUWM0507
  
     However, WNRS fails to issue EYUWM0506 message, because the
     the specified insert type is invalid.
  
     For other messages, the CICSplex field is blank because it is
     not set correctly before it is used.
  

Problem conclusion

• To resolve the problems, the following changes have been made:
  
  -  Module EYU0WMAA(WMAA) has been updated to add CICSplex insert
     when calling XMSM to issue message EYUWM0508.
  
  -  Module EYU0WNHD(WNHD) has been updated to pass 8-bytes long
     variable when calling XMSM to issue the following messages:
  
     - EYUWM0503
     - EYUWM0504
     - EYUWM0505
     - EYUWM0506
     - EYUWM0507
     - EYUWM0508
  
  -  Message EYUWM0507 and EYUWM0508 have been updated to add the
     open parenthesis for the optimization termination reason
     field.
  
  -  Module EYU0WNRS(WNRS) has been updated to:
  
     - Use correct insert type for EYUWM0506 message.
  
     - Inquire and set the variable of CICSplex field before it is
       used for message EYUWM0508, EYUWM0504 and EYUWM0507.
