PI21971: CICS ISSUES CATALOG DELETE FOR BUNDLE DEFINED PROGRAM

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When a bundle containing a program is discarded it issues a
    delete request to the catalog to remove that program. This is
    incorrect as programs defined in bundles are not cataloged.
    From CICS TS V5.2, this can result in the wrong program
    definition being deleted from the catalog where a public
    and private program have the same name.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Program not found after CICS region *
    *                      AUTO restart.                           *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A CICS Application is installed. This Application includes a
    bundle which defines a public program (PROGA), and a private
    program (PROGB). PROGB is also the name of a public program.
    .
    The CICS Application resource is then discarded. This issues a
    DFHPGDD DELETE_PROGRAM call for both PROGA and PROGB. This
    processing issues a DFHCCCC DELETE call for PROGB, and causes
    the entry for PROGB to be removed from the catalog. This is not
    correct as private programs defined in bundles are not
    cataloged.
    Following a WARM or EMERGENCY restart, the public program PROGB
    is no longer available. CEMT I PROG(PROGB) produces NOT FOUND.
    .
    Additional keywords: GC2010 CCCC LD_PDEFN NOTFOUND PGMIDERR

Problem conclusion

  • DFHLDLD and DFHPGDD have been updated so that DFHCCCC DELETE is
    not called for private programs.
