Error description

  • CICS translator for PL/1 comment out each EXEC CICS statement
and create a DO; statement instead. If by accident the delimiter
of an EXEC CICS command, the semicolon (;) is on column 68, the
*/ is disrupted. The * is coded in the first line, the / on the
next line. When this listing is saved as a side-file, the
debugger using this side-file gets into trouble

Local fix

  • Code PL/1 delimiter for EXEC CICS statement not in column 68.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When the CICS translator turns an EXEC CICS command into PL/I
code, the EXEC CICS command is commented-out by adding slash
asterisk at the beginning and asterisk slash at the end. If
the EXEC CICS statement's semi-colon is in column 68, the
trailing asterisk slash is split over two lines. While this
doesn't cause a problem for PL/I compiler, it does for Debug
    Tool.
    Keywords: PL/1 PL1 PLI

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEPMPP has been changed and will no longer split a comment
delimiter over 2 lines if the default MARGINS setting of
    MARGINS(2,72,0) is used.
