Error description

  • You are using your web browser to access CICS. DFHWBPW handles
    password and pass phrase changes. It is returning an HTTP 500
    error similar to the following:
    .
      500 CICS Web Interface implementation error
      An implementation error occurred.
      EIBFN=740C EIBRESP=00022 EIBRESP2=00001
    .
    The EIBFN is for a CHANGE PHRASE command. In CICS 4.1 it would
    be a CHANGE PASSWORD command. The RESP and RESP2 values will
    vary depending on the error returned.
    .
    The only combinations of RESP and RESP2 that return a
    meaningful, interpreted text message in the browser are
    .
     EIBRESP = 70 = NOTAUTH
         EIBRESP2 = 2 The supplied password or password phrase is
                       wrong. If the external security manager is
                       RACF, the revoke count maintained by RACF is
                       incremented.
                    4 The new password or password phrase is not
                       acceptable.
                    19 The user ID is revoked.
    .
    All the other combination of RESP and RESP2 values get the HTTP
    500 response. It would be better to provide an interpreted,
    meaningful text message instead of just the internal return
    codes.

    ****************************************************************
    An HTTP request comes to a security enabled CICS system. When
    the password is expired a new form is displayed to change new
    password. When user leave the form blank and submit, it returns
    HTTP 500 error instead of meaningful message.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHWBPW has been changed to add more response code handling
    returned from API EXEC CICS CHANGE PHRASE.
