Error description
DFHWBBMS loops on data with an escaped character. This is unexpected however DFHWBBMS uses the variable M for the loop amount instead of J. M is not initialized and if it happens to contain zero then there is an infinite loop. Additional Symptoms: Task issuing RECEIVE_MAP Receives DFHWB0004 A possible loop has been detected at offset X'FFFF' in module DFHWBBMS. Runaway. Could also receive DFHSM0002 x'0D0C' Severe Error. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFHWB0004 issued, loop in DFHWBBMS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** DFHWBBMS was being driven and was processing a symbol string as part of a 3270 web bridge request. The symbol string contained a symbol name that ended in an escaped '#' character ( %23 ). This caused an OTHERWISE clause within loop Symbol_scan to be driven. This OTHERWISE clause used an uninitialised control variable which caused the Symbol_scan do while to loop repeatedly. This apar also addresses the problem reported by PI45758 ( incorrectly formatted web page ) which will be closed as a DUP of this apar. Keywords: WB0004 msgDFHWB0004
Problem conclusion
DFHWBBMS has been modified to process the escaped '#' at the end of a symbol name correctly. It also addresses the problem of an incorrectly formatted web page reported by apar PI45758 ( which will be closed as a DUP of this apar ).
