Error description

  • Customer has a shared DFHCSD defined with SHROPTS(2,3) which
allows only one user to open for output (Write) at a time.
During the failing scenario, region A had the DFHCSD open for
output while region B also needed the DFHCSD open for output.
Message DFHFC0987 was produced to report VSAM return and reason
    codes as follows:
DFHFC0987 applid Non-RLS OPEN of file DFHCSD failed: Not
available for type of processing. VSAM codes - 0008, 00A8 in
    module DFHFCFS.
Message DFHCA4865 is also produced to further explain the
failure is due to another user accessing the dataset. Message
DFHCA4865 is not documented within the 5.1 or 5.2 manuals. It
    should read as follows:
DFHCA4865 S date time applid tranid Unable to perform
operation - DFHCSD currently accessed by another user.
While CICS is trying to issue the message, it is discovered
module DFHMET1E is unaware of the message. Thus, message
DFHME0108 and a dump is produced.
DFHME0108 applid Message DFHCA4865 cannot be found in module
    DFHMET1E.

NOTE: Same issue can be realized for message DFHCA4864

    ****************************************************************
Customer is trying to access CSD file as output(write access)
using CICS explorer. Meanwhile, the CSD file is already used by
other CICS region as output. So DFHAMMSG is called to output
MSGNO(4865). Message builder DFHAMER is invoked to build the
error message. As CICS explorer is using EXEC CICS CSD command
to access CSD file, component_id is switched from AM to CA so
that all messages can go to TDQ CSMT. It's designed that all
the relevant AM messages have counterparts in the CA component
with the same number. However, for DFHCA4865 it's missing so
error message DFHME0108 is issued for DFHCA4865 cannot be found
in module DFHMET1E. The same happens for DFHCA4864.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHMECAE is changed to copy messages DFHCA4864 and DFHCA4865
    from DFHMEAME.
CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 4 Release 2
CICS Messages and Codes Vol 1, GC34-7175-01
Chapter 4. DFH messages - DFH01 to DFHM
has been changed to add message DFHCA4864 and DFHCA4865:

DFHCA4864S date time applid tranid Unable to perform operation -
    DFHCSD cannot be opened.
    Explanation
CICS cannot use the CSD file for one of the following
    reasons:
       1. The DDNAME or data set name of the CSD file is incorrectly
          coded in the startup JCL.
       2. VSAM has diagnosed that the CSD file cannot be opened.
       3. CICS file control cannot open DFHCSD because
insufficient storage has been allocated by the job
          REGION= parameter.
    System Action
        The command is not executed.
    User Response
The action to solve the problem depends on the cause as
    follows:
       1. Correct the JCL.
       2. Check the system operator's console for VSAM messages, and
          correct all VSAM errors.
       3. Increase the size limit of the DSAs or EDSAs.
    Module: DFHAMP
    Message inserts:
    1. date
    2. time
    3. applid
    4. tranid
    Destination: TDQ

DFHCA4865S date time applid tranid Unable to perform operation -
DFHCSD currently accessed by another user.

    Explanation
CICS cannot get read access to the CSD file because another
region is accessing it, and the CSD cluster is defined to VSAM
    with SHAREOPTIONS(1).
    System Action
The command is not executed and CSD file is set in Unenabled
        status.
    User Response
To avoid a recurrence of this problem, recreate the CSD file
specifying SHAREOPTIONS(2). See the CICS System Definition Guide
    for further details.
    Module: DFHAMP
    Message inserts:
    1. date
    2. time
    3. applid
    4. tranid
    Destination: TDQ
