PI67426: ADDITIONAL JARS TO BE INCLUDED TO EQUINOX FRAMEWORK IN CICS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The install of bundles fails with messages:
  
  Exception in thread "Router-Init-Thread"
  com.ibm.cics.router.RouterException:
  1 errors detected when the OSGi Framework started up.
  
  The first error occurred in the following bundle:
  org.eclipse.equinox.io_1.1.100.v20150430-1834
  at com.ibm.cics.router.Router.initStandardOSGI(Router.java:642)
  
  Bundles remain disabled with following messages:
  Unresolved requirement: Import-Package:
  org.osgi.service.io;version="1.0.0"

  CICS 5.3 ships (unlike CICS 5.2) the minimal osgi framework jars
  required for the OSGI framework to function correctly.
  
  Clients expect that all parts of the Equinox Framework are
  shipped and that all the bundles are enabled automatically so
  that users do not have to update the JVM profile to achieve
  this.
  

Local fix

• Download the required IO Connector Service from the Equinox
  website.

  CICS includes the Equinox implementation of the OSGi framework
  to run Java applications that comply with the OSGi
  specification in a JVM server, however the contents of this
  framework has changed across CICS releases.
  Two jars have been identified which are now missing from the
  framework:
  org.eclipse.equinox.io.jar
  org.eclipse.equinox.util.jar
  

Problem conclusion

• The missing jars org.eclipse.equinox.io.jar and
  org.eclipse.equinox.util.jar have been shipped in addition to
  the Equinox framework.
