PI74480: ABEND 0C4-04 IN DFHDSTCB AT OFFSET X'AB6'

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• CICS hangs unexpectedly, and the region requires FORCE to
  terminate. You've gathered a dump on an ABEND 0C4 in DFHDSTCB
  at offset x'AB6', the first symptom of trouble.  Looking at the
  dump, you find that the CSA time is over a minute stale.
  
  There are exception trace entries indicating:
    DS 0002 DSAT    ENTRY CHANGE_MODE
    DS 0055 DSTCB  *EXC* - DSTCB_RECOVERY - FUNCTION(TCB_REPLY)
  
  You may find that the values for Registers 2 and 6 contain
  x'7FFFF000' at the time of the ABEND.

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS region hangs following an abend    *
  *                      0C4 in module DFHDSTCB.                 *
  ****************************************************************
  A CICS region hangs or terminates following an abend S0C4
  in DFHDSTCB. This abend occurs following a change mode onto
  an open TCB.
  The problem is happening when the number of file strings
  ( 32 ) have been exhausted for the catalog and DFHCCCC has
  issued a catalog WRITE. The task issuing the WRITE was running
  on an open TCB, but has to now wait for a string to be free.
  The task has to issue a change mode onto the QR TCB to do
  the wait.
  When a string becomes free the task is resumed and attempts
  to switch back to the open TCB. This change mode fails
  because DFHCCCC does not have the correct information to
  switch to that open TCB.
