Error description

  • This issue is similar to the problem addressed by APARs
    PM84130 & PM71673. Except in this occurrence, the MQRC being
    passed back is 2217 instead of 2063. The 2217 indicates that
    there is a RACF/Security issue.

    You encounter a runaway abend event when using the CICS-MQ
    bridge with MQ Advanced Message Security (AMS). You did not
    add SCSQANLE and SCSQAUTH to the list of program-controlled
    libraries in the * profile in the PROGRAM class in RACF. As a
    result, the bridge monitor task CKBR abended repeatedly with an
    AMQI abend code for several hours until the CICS region was
    cancelled.

    You see messages like:

    +DFHMQ0700 I CKBR CICS-MQ BRIDGE INITIALIZATION IN PROGRESS.
    +DFHMQ0710 E CKBR MQCC=2 MQRC=2217 RETURNED FOR OPEN.
    +GSVC201E (Task) Tran=CKBR Task= ##### Code=AMQI
    Program=DFHMQBR0
    ReqID=* Resource=*

    Any MQRC that causes CKBR to abend should be carried out as it
    is handled in PM84130/PM71673 instead of the constant retrying
    and abending.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An attempt to open the CICS-MQ Bridge *
    * Queue fails with MQRC=2217 and can *
    *                      cause a loop.                           *
    ****************************************************************
    An application tries to MQOPEN the CICS-MQ Bridge Queue but
    the SCSQANLE and SCSQAUTH datasets are not included in the list
    of program-controlled libraries in the * profile of the PROGRAM
    class in RACF. IBM MQ AMS passes an MQRC 2217 back to the
    CICS-MQ Bridge code. As the bridge code does not handle this
    specific MQRC, the application continues to attempt the MQOPEN
    indefinitely.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHMQBR0 has been changed to handle an MQRC of 2217 and issue
    new message DFHMQ0727.

    The IBM Knowledge Center for CICS Transaction Server 5.1.0,
    5.2.0, 5.3.0 and 5.4.0 will all be updated in Reference >
    CICS Transaction Server messages > CICS messages >
    DFHMQnnnn messages, so that a new message is inserted as
    follows:-

    DFHMQ0727I date time applid tranid trannum CICS-MQ Bridge Open
    failed because IBM MQ AMS could not create a security
    environment.

    Explanation: IBM MQ Advanced Message Security is being used to
    protect IBM MQ queues being accessed via a CICS application,
    but the MQOpen request has resulted in reason 2217 from IBM MQ
    AMS.

    System action: CICS-MQ bridge queue is not opened.

    User Response: Investigate IBM MQ AMS documentation for
    the cause of the 2217 reason code.

    Module: DFHMQBR0

    XMEOUT Parameters: date,time, applid, tranid, trannum

    Destination: Console and Transient Data Queue
    CMQM and Terminal End User.
