APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• BATCHREP to small output file brings down CMAS region after
  system abend code 315. CICS is unable to recover from this
  abend code and terminates with DFHSR0606 message.
  I was running a batchrep report but the output to a DSN PDSE
  was so large that it ran out of space.
  This caused an AKEB abend that brought the entire CMAS region
  down.

  This APAR is raised to request that z/OS system abend code
  315 is added to the CICS SRT and allow CICS to recover from
  abend 315.

  'If a partitioned data set is used as the output data set, you
  must ensure that the data set has enough space to handle the
  output. A full partitioned data set without sufficient
  directory space may cause multiple abends resulting in the
  termination of the CMAS. To avoid multiple abends during CICS
  recovery, direct output to a sequential data set. If required,
  you can then copy the sequential data set output to a
  partitioned data set.

  A user was running a CPSM batchrep report but failed to make
  the output PDSE dataset large enough. It ran out of space
  resulting in abend code 315 during the processing of an SVC 21
  instruction. As CICS does not have system recovery code to
  handle 315 abend codes, and one was not coded in the SRT
  itself, the region terminated with an AKEB abend.

Problem conclusion

• DFHSRT has been changed to handle 315 abend codes and prevent
  the region from terminating if they occur.
