Error description
You are running CICS TS 5.2 and experience the region going Short on Storage. In the logs you see the following messages, repeated many times: DFHSO0002 A severe error (code X'0814') has occurred in module DFHSOSE. DFHSM0133 CICS is under stress (short on storage above 16M) DFHKE0301 INSUFFICIENT STORAGE TO SATISFY GETMAIN IN MODULE DFHKESGM . MVS CODE 0004. DFHPG0001 An abend (code ---/AKEG) has occurred at offset X'75F0' in module DFHPGCR. DFHAP0001 An abend (code ---/AKEG) has occurred at offset X'0926' in module DFHLEPT. DFHKE0201 ABOUT TO TAKE SDUMP. DUMPCODE:KERNDUMP, DUMPID: 0/0000. (MODULE DFHKESTX). Here are some exception trace entries : AP 1939 LEPT *EXC* - PTHREAD_CREATE_FAILED ERRNO(112) ERRNO2(0B510292) . KE 050A KEDS *EXC* - PTHREAD-INSUFFICIENT-STORAGE - FUNCTION(CREATE_TCB) ATTACH_TOKEN(token) MODENAME(S8) . SO 0814 SOSE *EXC* - CHANGE_MODE_ERROR FUNCTION(SECURE_SOC_WRITE) SOCKET_ADDR(address) BUFFER_LIST(address) . The CICS short on storage is due to a CWXN task requesting x'72617A80' bytes of storage from subpool WBREPOSB. This length is not correct, and is residual data in DFHSOSE's stack after earlier calls to DFHLEPT failed. Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVEPH

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Various severe errors and abends caused * * by DFHSOSE failing to switch TCB. * **************************************************************** DFHSOSE was driven for an SSL socket request and in doing so attempted to switch from the SO to the S8 TCB. However, the TCB switch failed due to below the line storage being insufficient to satisfy a GETMAIN request required as part of the TCB switch. DFHSOSE's severe_error routine was driven but because the sose_response was set to sose_ok, error handling was not correctly performed. This resulted in various abends being issued.
Problem conclusion
DFHSOSE has been modified and will now set sose_response to sose_exception in the aforementioned scenario and error handling will be performed. The following update will be made to the IBM Knowledge Centre. ( section: CICS Transaction Server for z/OS versions 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4 - Trace Points ). Trace point 'SO 0814' will now read as follows: Point ID Module Lvl Type Data SO 0814 DFHSOSE Exc Change mode error 1 SOSE parameter list 2 DSAT parameter list
