Error description

  • Impact - incorrect reporting of Internal Response date.

We have a modified version of DFH$MOLS that displays the
    Internal Response (IRESP).

IRESP appeared ok, except for some transactions.

The transactions for which it appeared wrong had a significant
'think time' - TC I/O Wait.

Looking at the origin of Internal Response time, I found a bug
    in the source.

DFH$MOLS calculates the wrong Internal RESP value for all
release of CICS/TS where there is a non-zero TC I/O Wait value.

It is obvious when one uses CEMT I TAS interactively, leaves
the CEMT display for 2 minutes, then exits CEMT.

Post-processing the SMF 110 performance records for this CEMT
tasks shows that PDRIRESP is just short of 2 minutes, whereas
    it should be subsecond.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFH$MOLS PDRIRESP field is reporting *
    *                      the incorrect value.                    *
    ****************************************************************
The provided DFH$MOLS sample is using the first four bytes of
the timestamp value in PDRTCWT when calculating the PDRIRESP
value rather than just the time portion. This results in
PDRIRESP being reported as a larger value than intended.

Problem conclusion

  • DFH$MOLS has been altered to correctly calculate the PDRIRESP
    value.
