Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A CICS-DB2 task has a thread stuck in   *
    * DB2, this thread should be cancelled *
    * before the CICS task is purged. *
    ****************************************************************
Should a user need to purge a CICS task which has a thread in
DB2 the recommendation is to cancel the DB2 thread before the
CICS task is purged. However it is possible to purge the CICS
task before cancelling the DB2 thread. This leads to the
possibility of calling DB2 while it is in a 'must complete'
state that may lead to a DB2 failure.

    Additional keywords: -cancel thread

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • CICS purge processing has been changed to cancel the DB2 thread
as part of the CICS purge processing, should the thread be in
DB2 at the time of the purge. To exploit this function you
will also need to apply DB2 APAR PI92893.
