Error description

  • You issue the following modify command to a CICS region:
    CEMT INQUIRE UOWENQ
and find it can use an excessive amount of
CPU- over 2 minutes in some cases.
Then it has some missing output. Here is an example of that:

associated with it... that is incorrect.
This occurs when CEMT INQUIRE UOWENQ is issued, and a UOW owns
    over 33,0000 ENQ's.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CEMT I ENQ issued from a console may *
    *                      cause a CICS performance degradation.   *
    ****************************************************************
In the reported problem, tens of thousands of ENQ's
were linked to a UOW. A CEMT I ENQ command was issued
via the console by an automated product at regular
    intervals.
    .
As CEMT code browsed the thousands of ENQ's in the
system it compromised QR TCB availability preventing
other work from running in a timely fashion.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEMT56 has been modified and will cap the number
of INQUIRE ENQ's it can perform when the command
    originates at a console. If the cap ( 1000 ENQ's ) is
exceeded then a "Too Many Elements" error message is
    written to the console.
