Error description

  • CICS SOS due to ESDSA subpool LDEPGM
The Loader Domain ( LD ) shows:
1677721K is the current maximum RPS target for the ESDSA
233813K of ESDSA currently occupied by programs
214931K of ESDSA occupied by programs with no current user(RPS)
    .
The Maximum RPS (Redundant Program Storage) for the EDSA
    EDSALIM is 800M
Maximum RPS shows as approximately 1.6 GB
    .
Program compression is not being done to free the storage
held by programs that aren't currently in use.
    .
DFHLDNT calculation is initially set to 2G-1 (2147483648).
It gets reduced on each call to DFHLDNT
to notify it to free program storage.
It will reduce it to 80% of what the previous value was.
    80% of 2G-1 is 1717986917, which is 1677721K
    (where K means 1024, not 1000).
    .
      The test for sma_notified_dsas_not_constrained
is not done correctly. The next potential 14 times
we could renotify DFHLDNT are skipped.
So, program compression is not done on a timely basis.

DFHSMSY should be resumed to clean up redundant program storage
from loader domain 15 times but because of defective logic in
DFHSMSY this is not happening. This results in the clean up not
happening as quickly as it should, leading to an SOS situation
not being cleaned up as quickly as possible.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHSMSY has been changed to correct the logic that tests the
    sma_notified_dsas_not_constrained flag.
