Error description

  • A CICS region shows storage accumulating in UDSA due to
EIQSKBUF storage. This storage is acquired by module DFHEIQSK
while processing an EXEC CICS INQUIRE TASK IPFACILITIES
IPFLISTSIZE command. This storage is used as a buffer for the
    IPFACILITIES list.
    .
A GLUE program running at exit point XPCREQ is issuing the
INQUIRE TASK request. The storage accumulates for long-running
tasks and eventually CICS goes SOS. For other tasks, the
EIQSKBUF storage is freed at task termination.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Possible SOS condition when issuing *
    * EXEC CICS INQUIRE IPFACILITY. *
    ****************************************************************
It is possible for CICS to suffer a SOS ( Short on Storage )
condition when a GLUE ( Global User Exit ) has been written
which issues the EXEC CICS INQUIRE IPFACILITY command. The SOS
may occur in the UDSA should the task running the GLUE be long
running. In this case an EIQSKBUF is getmained to hold the data
returned from the INQUIRE IPFACILITY call, but not freed. It
would be freed if this transaction terminated. The next time the
GLUE is driven it will acquire another EIQSKBUF of x'28' bytes.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHUEH has been changed to free the EIQSKBUF after the GLUE
    returns control to CICS.
