Error description

  • You are trying to diagnose a problem and in the CICS trace you
find entries that look similar to the following:
    .
    TR 0101 TRPT *EXC* - OVERLENGTH-ENTRY :
                  CALLING DOMAIN WAS SO :
                  PARAMETER LIST WAS FUNCTION(TRACE_PUT)
                  POINT_ID(818)
                  DATA1(00000050_41D00000 , 00000000_000096D1)

    .
The second value in the DATA1 parm is larger than 4096 decimal
bytes, which is the most that CICS can trace in a single trace
entry. This amount of data needs to be split into multiple
trace entries, not a single one.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Overlength exception trace entry when *
    * using SSL and SO level 2 trace is *
    *                      active.                                 *
    ****************************************************************
CICS is sending a large amount of data using a socket with SSL.
If SO level 2 tracing is active then DFHSOSE will trace out the
data in a single SO 0818 trace entry. If the data is greater
than 4k then an overlength exception trace entry will be made
    instead.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHSOSE has been changed to use repeated SO 0818 entries to
trace out the entire buffer of data being sent.
