Error description

  • On an IMMEDIATE shutdown of CICS, an 0C4 abend occurs followed
by an abend C03. The 0C4 occurs in moduel IDA0200B at x'D26'
trying to access the AMB via Reg5. This area has been freed
which results in a C03 abend. This seems to have to do with
when the FO TCB is detached by DFHKETCB when it takes longer
than 10 seconds. In this case, closing the vsam files takes
    longer than 15 seconds.

    ****************************************************************
During an Immediate Shutdown the FO (File Owning) TCB can be
detached before all VSAM data sets have been closed.
This can cause an ABEND0C4 in module IDA0200B at offset X'D26'
    followed by an ABENDC03.
Also message IEC161I with codes 058(018)-061 may appear for VSAM
data sets at CICS Startup if the FO TCB was abnormally detached
at shutdown, and an automatic VERIFY will be done on these data
    sets.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHKETCB has been altered to give the FO TCB 60 seconds in which
to terminate at immediate shutdown, and KCB_CANT_TERMINATE_FO
will be set if the 60 seconds is exceeded. DFHKESIP will issue a
new message DFHKE1798 if this flag is set.

The CICS Transaction Server for z/OS CICS Messages and Codes
Version 3 Release 1 manual, GC34-6442-00, will be updated to add
the following new message for DFHKE1798 :-

DFHKE1798 APPLID FO TCB FORCED TO TERMINATE.

EXPLANATION: During an Immediate Shutdown the File Owning
TCB was detached before VSAM was able to close all data sets
    normally.

It is possible that the detaching of this TCB will cause
abends during shutdown. At CICS restart VSAM may need to
perform a VERIFY for any data set which was open for update
when the Immediate Shutdown was performed, and this can cause
    a long delay.

During initialization, CICS may not have access to the
user's applid coded in the SIT. If CICS produces this
message in these circumstances, it uses the default
     applid value DBDCCICS.

SYSTEM ACTION: The immediate shutdown of CICS continues.

USER RESPONSE: None. If this message occurs frequently,
you may wish to issue a CEMT SET FILE ALL CLOSED before
    Immediate Shutdown.

NOTE: This message cannot be changed with the message
    editing utility.
