Error description
Web browser output fields may be missing or contain invalid data when using the CICS 3270 Bridge. The same application did not have the problem in a native 3270 environment. The problem is wcc_char in DFHBRTB is checked to see if FRSET has been specified (x'01') bit. In some cases it may not have been initialized properly and residual data can be checked. If the FRSET bit is ON then all the MDT (Modified Data Tag) bits on the screen (bridge buffer) will be turned OFF. MDT bits can be turned OFF validly by using the FRSET option on the SEND MAP, but in this case the problem is due to the value not being initialized properly. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Data is sometimes missing when EXEC * * CICS RECEIVE is issued over the CICS * * Web Bridge. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** An EXEC CICS RECEIVE is issued over the CICS Web Bridge. Some of the modified fields which should be returned are missing. This can happen when the EXEC CICS RECEIVE is preceded by an EXEC CICS SEND MAP or EXEC CICS RECEIVE MAP. Both MAP commands cause the content of the bridge buffer to be updated. Part of this process involves resetting the MDT (modified data tags) of all fields if this is required. This should only happen if the MAP command includes the FRSET option. When FRSET is present a flag is set by DFHBRTB to indicate that all modified data tags are reset. However, this flag is never initialized and if it is randomly on and FRSET is not present on the MAP command, the modified data tags are invalidly reset. This leads to the failure of the subsequent EXEC CICS RECEIVE command. ADDITIONAL KEYWORDS :- ATTR_RESET_MDT WCC_CHAR
Problem conclusion
DFHBRTB has been changed to initialize the flag byte which includes the reset MDT flag.
