Error description

  • Transactions are entered to CICS through the VSE console using
MSG F2,DATA=CEMT INQ TAS commands. However, some of the CEMT
    transactions never start.
    .
EVA100 in DFHEVA10 is the CICS OC exit routine (Operator
Communications exit). EVA100 runs whenever a VSE MSG for the
partition console is issued, and passes the data on to the
subtask in a console input buffer (CIB). Parameter CIBVMAXN
controls the number of CIBs obtained during startup, and is
hardcoded to 64 (decimal). The CEMT transactions are sometimes
dropped when the number of messages exceeds this CIB count.
    .
Change Team provided a testfix to increase CIBVMAXN to 128, and
this resolves the problem. Customer is also requesting a WTO
informational message when CICS drops a transaction, rather than
to just ignore the MSG and exit.
VSE may also have same problem. See DY46353.

    ****************************************************************
When a MSG command to a partition running a CICS system
is entered from a VSE console the Operator Communications
Exit, EVA10O, is invoked to process the command. The input
is passed to the messaging subtask in a Console Input Buffer
(CIB). The number of CIBs available is determined by
CIBVMAXN, which is currently hardcoded to 64. If all the CIBs
are already in use the input message will be ignored, without
    notification.
Note that VSE apar DY46353 fixes a problem with similar
    symptoms.

Problem conclusion

  • The number of CIBs getmained at CICS initialization has been
increased to the current maximum possible, 255.The storage
used for the CIBs will now be above the 16M line.
A new message DFHEV5010I will be issued if there are still
not enough CIBs to process a command.
The CICS transaction Server for VSE/ESA V1.1 Messages and Codes
GC34-5561-07, will have new message DFHEV5010I added to section
    1.24 as follows:
DFHEV5010I CICS is busy. VSE MSG command has been rejected.
    Explanation:
CICS cannot accept the MSG command as 255 MSG commands to
    invoke transactions are currently queued.
    System Action:
    CICS rejects the MSG command.
    User Response:
    Reenter the MSG command.
    Destination: Console
    Module: DFHEVAS
