Error description

  • An alternate (XRF) CICS 3.1 system is shutdown with CEBT P SHUT
IMMED and the shutdown task fails with messages:
DFHAP0002 A severe error (code X'0516') has occurred in module
              DFHAPAC.
DFHAP0001 An abend (code ---/AKEF) has occurred at offset
              X'1282' in module DFHABAB.
DFHPC0402 Error with kernel error code ---/AKEF has occurred
while processing transaction abend ".0. in transaction
              CSSY.
    .
This alternate CICS region was brought up with START=STANDBY,
and no takeover occurred prior to shutdown. During shutdown,
DFHSTP +x'6AC' (UK04707) issues a DFHSP TYPE=USER to commit RM
work. This CICS has CPSMCONN=LMAS, and the commit receives
LOCAL_NO_VOTE and an abendASP7 is started.
    .
During processing of the ASP7, DFHAPAC attempts to link to
DFHTFP. The link to DFHTFP fails with PROGRAM_NOT_DEFINED
because with STANDBY (and no takeover has occurred), the PPT
definitions have not been restored from the global catalog. The
failing link to DFHTFP causes the AP0002 error code x'0516' to
occur, followed by the AP0001 abendAKEF, and finally the PC0402.
The abbreviated APAC 0516 trace entry looks like this:
    .
AP 0516 APAC *EXC* PGLK ERROR ** Decode of parameter list
                                       failed **
(The full trace version program checks under IPCS).
In addition, when we attempt to issue the DFHPC0402 message, the
abend code for the ASP7 is incorrectly reported as ".0.
The incorrect abend code in the PC0402 message is loaded from
low core (should have been ASP7). Routine abend_CICS_402 in
DFHABAB is trying to load the abend code from the TACB using
ABNDPTR (Reg11) to point to the TACB. However, ABNDPTR was
previously restored from SAVE_TCAPCACB in ABABREC, and is
supposed to be a saved TACB address. However, SAVE_TCAPCACB is
zeroes so the abend code is loaded from low core +x'1C' and an
    incorrect abend code is reported.

    ****************************************************************
An alternate XRF CICS system is shutdown by entering CEBT P
SHUT,IMM from the console. However the shutdown does not
complete properly, because a DFHSP TYPE=USER issued by DFHSTP
abends ASP7, which leads to a series of other, related abends.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHSTP has been amended such that a DFHSP TYPE=USER is not
attempted during an immediate shutdown of an alternate XRF CICS
    system.
