Error description
Transaction CWXN receives abendAPC3 after a COLD START of the CICS region is done. Some of the additional symptoms are: DFHAC2236 07/10/2005 10:36:28 DBTBCIDA Transaction CWXN abend AEI0 in program DFHXMAB term ????. Updates to local recoverable resources will be backed out. DFHAC2263 07/10/2005 10:36:28 DBTBCIDA Transaction CWXN abend ASOD in program DFHXMAB term ???? DFHPEP has abnormally terminated. The reason for this failure is as soon as the TCPIPSERVICE has been installed, the CWXN transaction is started. However, it could be that LE/370 has not yet initialized which triggers the APC3 abend. In previous releases CWXN was potentially started before control was given to CICS but at a time when all the CICS function was available (only problems caused by PLT initialisations not yet completed. In release 3.1 it seems the timing if more favorable for an error.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Various problems caused by user * * transactions being attached during * * initialization, before control is * * given to CICS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** CSOL, the sockets listener transaction, waits on socket domain initialization to complete before it processes any input from TCPIPSERVICE connections. This may happen before PLT processing and before LE initialization is complete. If TCPIPSERVICEs are installed from the GRPLIST or restored from the catalog and defined as OPEN then CSOL can accept new connections and attach receiver tasks before Language Environment has finished initialization and before the PLT programs have run. This can cause various problems, typically for transactions attempting to use resources which have not yet been initialized by the PLT programs and for any LE-enabled programs which may be invoked. PK15650 addresses the corresponding problem at CICS Transaction Server for OS/390 Version 1.3. Additional keywords: DFHSI1517 SI1517 MSGDFHSI1517
Problem conclusion
DFHSODM has been altered to wait for CICS initialization to complete before the ECB is posted which allows CSOL to begin processing input from TCPIPSERVICE connections.
