Error description

  • The abendAKEF occurs during task termination of the CSOL task.
Control is in DFHERM where an External Resource Manager TRUE has
just returned to DFHERM after having been driven at End Of Task
(Label EAM31004). Right there is a DFHMNFUI macro. That macro
wouldn't make a domain call except for the fact that the MCT
specifies RMI=Y. That causes the macro to make a domain call to
DFHMNMN. But at this point in termination, the MN domain is
already inactive. The DFHMNMN domain gate contains the address
of DFHKERKE instead of DFHMNMN. That is why we get the abendAKEF

Local fix

  • Change the MCT to specify RMI=N.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend AKEF during CICS shutdown. *

    ****************************************************************
In the reported problem, monitoring was active. CICS shutdown
was initiated. A system task (CSOL) was active which, during
transaction termination, caused a TRUE to be invoked. On return
from the TRUE, DFHERM attempted to make a DFHMNFUI call to
record monitoring data. As an MCT was specified with RMI=YES a
full MNMN domain call was required. However, at this point the
monitoring domain had already quiesced. The domain gate
addressed DFHKERKE which caused the transaction to abend AKEF.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHERM has been modified, the DFHMNMNM macro call in DFHMNFUI
    now has KERNERROR(YES) coded.
