Error description

  • 5655M1500
    Application making use of STARTBROWSE-ACTIVITY commands, to
    return BTS ACTIVITY objects, intermittently receives ABENDAEXZ.
    Trace shows the STARTBROWSE-ACTIVITY returning with DISASTER but
    there is no real idication of why. The only clue appears to be
    zero length bytes and zero pointer being passed back on the
    BABU READ_BYTES call.

    * intermittently receives an AEXZ abend. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When performing a STARTBROWSE ACTIVITY in a BTS program, an AEXZ
    abend is returned. This is because a problem with an activity
    record on the DFHBARF dataset causes causes an invalid return
    code to be thrown in babu_read_bytes proc, but omissions in the
    logic mean that this return code is not reported upon which
    leads, instead, to the disaster condition being reported.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHBABR has now been amended to report the correct return code.
