Error description

  • Transaction CSKP is dynamically defined by CICS during startup
to run at a priority of 1. The priority of CSKP is automatically
increased during execution of CICS. When a CICS region
experiences a heavy workload with non-system task running at a
high priority CSKP will not get dispatched preventing trimming
of the tail of the log. This will result in the Log Stream's
dataset filling up resulting in the CICS region crashing. A MVS
Logger code of DFHLG0772 X'00000008' X'0000085C' will be issued.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHLG0772 issued, CICS crashed. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The keypoint task CSKP should have trimmed the system log,
however, because of higher priority tasks in the system, CSKP
never got to first dispatch. Had it done so its priority would
have been immediately changed to 255. Because CSKP was never
dispatched, it was unable to trim DFHLOG which resulted in
    MSGDFHLG0772 and CICS termination.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHRMXN4 has been change so that CSKP will be attached with
    a priority of 254.
