The terminal hangs after this until manual intervention- like issuing vtam vary inact, is done which then terminates the session.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Terminal hang after DFHZC3438 SENSE * * 0831 on SESSIONC START DATA TRAFFIC. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** As part of session establishment CICS sends a Start Data Traffic SDT command which is rejected with SENSE0831 DEVICE POWERED OFF. The CICS SYNAD exit DFHZSYX processes the '0404'x completion code setting up message DFHZC2456(3). DFHZNAC runs to issue the MSGDFHZC2456, one of the actions for the message is CLSDST which would normally cause the session to be UNBOUND. Prior to taking any actions DFHZNAC calls DFHZNCS to report the SENSE 0831 with MSGDFHZC3438. DFHZNCS cancels all the previous actions including CLSDST expecting an LUSTATUS command to be received on the session when the device becomes available. However in this case LUSTAT is not allowed to flow because the SDT exchange did not complete. Consequently CICS waits for an LUSTAT that will never arrive leaving the device hung indefinitely. Problem conclusion
CICS has been changed so that DFHZNCS will not cancel all previous actions from message DFHZC2456(3) if a SDT command was rejected with SENSE0831. The CLSDST action will cause CICS to send an UNBIND on the session.
