Error description

  • An application issues an exec cics delay with an interval.
The interval expires, and the task is not redispatched. The ICE
appear not to expire. The dispatcher domain shows that the
waiting transaction is on a L8 TCB, yet the exec cics delay is
not currently threadsafe. The switch to the QR TCB has not
taken place. The ICE representing the delayed transaction has
    x'0's at +x'14' (the ICETECAA).

    ****************************************************************
It is possible for tasks to be stuck in ICWAIT following the
issue of an EXEC CICS DELAY FOR command when a task is on an L8
TCB. The task will be stuck because the task didn't switch to
the QR TCB before DFHICP was called to get an ICE and so allowed
other tasks running down the same ICE chain and manipulating it.
This problem only occurs if the DELAY command includes the FOR
    operand.

Problem conclusion

  • UK09424
Module DFHEIIC has been altered, so that a switch to the QR TCB
is done when an EXEC CICS DELAY command contains the FOR
operand and the expiry value is not zero.
