Error description
Running CICS transaction server 3.1, you receive the following messages during shutdown: DFHSO0114 - The socket listener cannot attach the transaction CWXN, TCPIPSERVICE SOAP will be closed. DFHSO0001 - An abend (code aaa/bbbb) has occurred at offset X'2EA' in module DFHSOS05. (ptf level UK07478) DFHSO0002 - A severe error (code x'0C33') has occurred in module DFHSOLS CICS was in the process of shutting down, so this is why we could not attach CWXN to process an incoming request. During this process, we end of freemaining the corresponding STE and socket from this request, but later go back to try and reference it. The failing instruction in DFHSOS05 was a CS - BA01 9424 due to R9 containing 00000000.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHSO0001 'An abend * * (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred * * at offset X'02EA' in module * * DFHSOS05 may be issued during * * CICS shutdown. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** During shutdown of a CICS region message DFHSO0114 'the socket listener cannot attach the transaction CWXN, TCPIPSERVICE SOAP' is issued. This message is followed by 'abend 0C4/AKEA from DFHSOS05' and 'A severe error (code X'0C33') has occurred in module DFHSOLS'. An attempt was being made to attach a web receiver task during CICS shutdown and because the CWXN task is disabled for shutdown, the socket gets closed and deleted. Following this a takesocket call is issued against the socket just closed because DOCLOSE flag has not been explicitly set. As a result, socket pointers cleared during the close are referenced again during the takesocket request. This causes an abend 0C4 to occur because storage not available to the task is being accessed. Additional Keywords: msgDFHSO0114 DFHSO0001 msgDFHSO0001 DFHSO0002 msgDFHSO0002 S0C4 abendS0C4 abendAKEA
Problem conclusion
DFHSOS23 has been changed to always explicitly set DOCLOSE in the socket notify routine.
