Error description
Running the IBM CONSOLE TRACKER on z/OS R6 to prepare for a future release of z/OS which requires changes to any using 1 byte console ids or some options with intialization of a subsystem. . Reference IBM APARs II13752 & OA10531. . D OPDATA,TRACKING CNZ1001I 07.50.11 TRACKING DISPLAY 918 STATUS=ON NUM=36 MAX=1000 MEM=00 EXCL=0 REJECT=0 ----TRACKING INFORMATION---VALUE--JOBNAME PROGNAME+OFF-- SID NUM Subsystem Console Service FFFFFFFF XCMASX SVC-216 00 77 1 . The CICSPLEX address space is flagged by the TRACKER for the issue from OA10531. . We have generally found this is because the process of enabling the subsystem console WTO broadcast function through IBM routine IEAVG700 needed to be updated. At z/OS V1R6, the value of the VERSION parameter in the parameter list changed (from x'03' to x'04) to indicate the higher OS level. . The version of the operating system on which you are running needs to be determined and the SCSVER field passed to IEAVG700 set appropriately. . It would be desirable to have CICS support the R6 parameter list so that we know they can't be using a 1-byte id if they happen to reuse the parameter list for other functions other than broadcast messages. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 3.1 * * is required to pass the current level * * of z/OS on an IEAVG700 call. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A tool called 'IBM Console Tracker' has detected a z/OS level mismatch between what is being passed in field SCSVER on the IEAVG700 call from DFHSSGC and the actual z/OS level. In the reported problem, the CICS region was running in an MVS with z/OS level 1.6 . SCSVER contained x'03', indicating a z/OS level of 1.5 or lower, because CICS was compiled at this lower level.
Problem conclusion
DFHSSGC has been modified and SCSVER will now be set to x'04' if the z/OS is 1.6 (or higher) and x'03' if the z/OS is 1.5 (or less).
