Error description

  • the transaction is defined as DYNAMIC(YES) the CICSPlex supplied
DTR program is invoked and the transaction will be routed to
another CICS region. However, we receive an exception
"USERIDERR" because the userid provided isn't valid. Due to
lots of invalid userids being passed the region end's up going
SOS in CDSA. This is due to the Start Transaction issuing a
Getmain but after "USERIDERR" occurs the storage is not freemain
    -ed.
    .
"DFHEIIC will acquire a TSIOA for a local START request if a
routable START has been determined to be issued locally by the
DTR pgm. However, analyse_request will return an error code due
to the userid failure, and yet in this path there is no call to
freemain the TSIOA as a result the region goes SOS.

    ****************************************************************
In the reported problem a long running application issued an
inordinate number of EXEC CICS START (transid) requests where
transid was defined such that it was to be dynamically routed
to another CICS region. The START contained the USERID option
and this caused a certain path to be taken in DFHEIIC which
GETMAINed a piece of storage. Because the USERID specified
was unauthorised, a USERIDERR response was returned but
DFHEIIC did not FREEMAIN the previously GETMAINed storage.
Eventually the CICS region went short on storage.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEIIC has been modified and will now FREEMAIN the storage
    in the aforementioned scenario.
