Error description

  • When CEDF is invoked and a request is made to a remote file, the
    KEYLENGTH FIELD defaults to 80 CHARACTERS, stretching from one
    side of the SCREEN to the other. CEDF is not using the
    KEYLENGTH FIELD specified in the FCT for a TYPE=REMOTE entry.
    This situation does not occur for LOCAL FILES or for requests
    to REMOTE FILES with the LENGTH FIELD specified.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using CEDF after a file control *
    * request for a remote file, the RIDFLD *
    * field display is always 80 characters *
    *                      across.                                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    CEDF is being used to test an application with an EXEC CICS
    READ request to a remote file. The default KEYLENGTH parameter
    value of 80 is always being used causing the RIDFLD field to
    display 80 characters across the screen. This is being caused
    because remote files are always flagged as 'NOT OPEN' and so
    default values are used instead of the KEYLENGTH value specified
    in the FCT. This error does not occur for requests to remote
    files if KEYLENGTH is specified on the read command. A similar
    situation occurs with the LENGTH parameter.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHEDFX has been changed so that if the RECORDSIZE and KEYLENGTH
    values in the FCT are not zero these values will be used for
    remote files otherwise default values will be used.
