Error description

  • MSGDFHPI0001 An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred at offset
    X'5226' in DFHPIPL when <terminal_handler> is missing from the
    header file.
    Our customer was able to insert the <terminal_handler> statement
    in the file and did not error. Our customer believes a dump and
    outage is too drastic and a message would be more appropriate
    in this scenario.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a PIPELINE definition for a service provider is installed,
    the xml configuration file is parsed. The <terminal_handler> tag
    is a required tag for a provider pipeline, but if it is missing,
    DFHPIPL will continue scanning past the end of the data. This
    eventually results in an abend 0C4.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPIPL has been changed to detect that the <terminal_handler>
    tag is missing, from an otherwise valid xml configuration file,
    and produce message DFHPI0720.
