Error description
Abend378 RC14 occurs when DFHMNSVC attempts to freemain the the 8-byte hash element associated with a WLM performance block. RC14 for the abend378 indicates either the key or the subpool specified on the freemain didn't match the associated getmain. . System trace shows that the 8-byte hash element is getmained by DFHMNSVC +x'9EE' in routine WLM_PB_CREATE. Key0 is specified on the getmain, and the subpool is 252 (or x'FC'). The failing freemain is from DFHMNSVC +x'AFC' in the WLM_PB_DELETE routine with key0, subpool 229 (or x'E5'). The failure occurs on the FO TCB.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 378/AKEB while using VSM * * diagnostic trap IGVUNCOND * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** An abend 378/AKEB can occur due to CICS freemaining an 8 byte hash element associated with a WLM performance block using a different storage subpool to that used on the getmain. There will normally be no abend as the freemain is a conditional freemain. This means that control is returned to the statement immediately following the freemain with an appropriate return code set. However if the VSM diagnostic trap: IGVUNCOND is activated using a DIAGxx member in SYS1.PARMLIB the conditional freemain becomes unconditional and z/OS will generate a 378/AKEB abend. Keywords: 378 S378 abendS378 abendAKEB
Problem conclusion
DFHMNSVC has been altered to freemain the WLM hash element using the same subpool used on the getmain.
