Error description

  • A DFHFC0001 error occurs during SYNCPOINT processing. The 0C4
    abend is occurring in DFHFCRC on a MVI instruction: 9240 202D
    at offset x'4428'. The abend occurs due to Reg2, which is
    loaded from Reg4+248, is zeros. It should be the FCTE pointer

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    SYNCPOINT processing attempts to shunt a unit of work. DFHFCFR
    processes the UOW FLABs required. A null fcte_pointer in a FLAB
    leads to low core being updated and an ABEND0C4 in DFHFCRC as
    it attempted to turn off a bit in the FCT. This is regarded as
    a severe error and CICS terminates abnormally.

Problem conclusion

  • UK09356

    DFHFCRC has been altered so that a validation check is done on
    the fcte_pointer to confirm it is not null. This is done at the
    beginning of procedure close_if_req_and_poss_shunt.
