Error description
Abend0C1 was detected at +34C in DFHZSDA when it ran in CICS system task TCP. This caused DFHSR0601, msgDFHSR0601, SR0601, termination against this CICS region. . This abend resulted from an invalid change of AMODE. DFHZSDA issued a VTAM SEND macro and made it into VTAM in amode31 but VTAM returned with amode24. Invalid address was thus generated and caused abend0c1. .

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: MSGDFHSR0601 after ABENDS0C4 in * * DFHZSDA. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The TCP task is in the middle of a VTAM macro which has used CSAOSRSA as a register save area. The TCP task is running on the QR TCB. In parallel with this, a J8 TCB is running through DFHSMVP processing a GETMAIN request under a JVM. CICS is running short on region storage so DFHSMVP suspends waiting for another JVM to release some storage. Around the suspend, the DFHKEDSI macro is used to start and stop purge protection. When DFHSMVP is resumed, the DFHKEDSI macro changes R13 to address the CSA rather than DFHSMVP's savearea. DFHSMVP then proceeds to issue a VSMLIST macro which uses R13 as a savearea. This corrupts CSAOSRSA. The corrupted CSAOSRSA leads to a program check on the TCP task which causes CICS to terminate with DFHSR0601, but other unpredictable results may occur. Problem conclusion
DFHSMVP has been changed to ensure that R13 addresses its savearea after issuing DFHKEDSI macros.
